The Corvette. The Jaguar E-Type. The Aston Martin DB5. All beloved classic cars. But there’s no getting around that they aren’t environmentally friendly. So, what can you do if you love classic cars and want to drive those babies while also not feel guilty about the pleasure?

Zero Labs Automotive came up with an ingenious solution. A new automotive design, technology and engineering firm, it converts the beauties of old into greener machines. And, the company just pulled the curtain on its first customer car; a classic Ford Bronco, the most collected 4×4 of all time. In the process, it created a whole new category of vehicles.

The electric Bronco retains its off-road capabilities with an Atlas 2 (2-speed) transfer case, Currie front and rear differentials, adjustable FOX coil over suspension complete with Brembo 6 piston caliper brakes. Underneath, this off-roader contains a 70 kWh battery, Level 2 charging ability and a 360 hp permanent magnet AC motor, giving it a very respectable 190-mile range. It also won’t be left in the technological dust. Designed for longevity into the future, the Bronco is designed to be upgradable to incorporate advancing power and performance technology.

Though retooled to be more copacetic with the environment, the Bronco retains its classic charm. Inside the cockpit, it looks familiar yet updated, with the digital gauge cluster recreated from the original. Diagnostics and controls reside behind a hidden screen, and hat tip for this modern detail, viewable on your mobile phone.

Handcrafted with materials ranging from aerospace grade carbon fiber to molded wood for the consoles, the electric Bronco’s overhaul includes 1,000 newly designed parts. If you want to get your hands on one of these, you better act quick and make a reservation. There will be only 150 first editions available.
