Jaguar has taken an entirely different approach to highlight its latest efforts to stay at the forefront of the electric vehicle movement. The luxury manufacturer has introduced its first all-electric sports car, the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé, for the popular Gran Turismo video game.

Descended from the racing lineage of Jaguar, the virtual sports car puts gamers in the driver’s seat of a purely electric vehicle with 1,020 PS (1,005 hp), 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft) of torque, and a blistering 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) time of less than two seconds. The all-electric sports car has a top speed of 200 mph.

Jaguar debuted the sleek, virtual all-electric sports coupe at the Gran Turismo World Tour event in Tokyo. The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé will be available for players to download in Gran Turismo Sport for Sony PlayStation 4, beginning at the end of November.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Popular games like PlayStation 4’s Gran Turismo often serve as test grounds for production vehicles, where carmakers gather feedback on the cars. That suggests that the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé could actually evolve into an actual production EV down the road.
