In this episode of Ride News Now with Alison Haislip, Audi is killing the TT sports car, hydrogen fuel cell tech could clean up our waterways, and a startup in Sweden is testing autonomous trucks.
- First up, Audi has decided to kill off its iconic TT sports car. But it may come back… as an electric vehicle. It won’t be alone either, as rumor has it that Audi may pull a similar treatment on its mighty R8 supercar.
- Next, a company called Ballard Power Systems is developing ways to clean up the vessels chugging through our global waterways. The solution lies with hydrogen fuel cells. These are scalable to the demands of large ships, run emissions free, and use a power source which is essentially infinitely renewable.
- Finally, there’s a startup in Sweden called Einride and it’s testing an autonomous truck. Dubbed the T-Pod, the truck only operates in one small town, has a max speed of 3 miles per hour, and has no place for a human driver to sit. It could save companies a ton of dough down the road… if it eventually goes fast enough to make it down the road.
