In this episode of Ride News Now with Alison Haislip, Embraer is developing a robotaxi drone, a compact brain brings us closer to autonomous air travel, and EV charging is about to get more convenient.
- First up, Embraer is developing a flying taxi that utilizes vertical takeoff and landing capability. The concept is called the Dreammaker. It could be just the personal drone that Uber dreams about for its future flying taxi fleet.
- Next, Honeywell has created a compact brain for aircraft. The flight controller package is the size of a paperback book, yet can handle all fly-by-wire needs for a modern or future aircraft. By reducing the size and weight of this brain, aviation companies could potentially utilize this system for future drone taxis.
- Finally, Electrify America and Chargepoint are teaming up to expand the EV charging capabilities across the country. If you sign up for a singular subscription service, you could charge your vehicle at a station owned by either company. And each company is constantly adding to its charging station count. Right now, the pair have over 30,000 stations combined.
